Pierre is described in many SWLR records as being “of Bordeaux” or “from Bordeaux”. But many researchers identify him as being from the ETHIER family in Canada. One possible Canadian descent is that he was the son of Pierre ETHIER (III) & Marguerite VAUDRY, b. 8/15/1745, see Ethier 1.1.7a.8. Other researchers assert that he was born in Bordeaux, c. 1745, but his parents are unknown. Still other researchers assert that he was born c. 1754 near Franklin, LA; it seems likely that this is a confusion with other men having the same name. It is possible that none of these conjectures is correct. He must have died in Louisiana, but the date is unknown. Assertions that he died 11/22/1821 are confused with his son Pierre Guillaume.

Clara's d. records use the name Clara PANOS, implying a 2nd m., but the husband
has not been identified. The 1940 census reports Clara as div., working as
live-in housekeeper to a Greek immigrant named S. P. PAUS. It is conjectured
that this could be the 2nd husband.
(An interesting coincidence: In the 1910 census, George was a railroad conductor,
and he and Clara are recorded as lodgers in the same home as Harry Friedman
(a railroad engineer) and Eleda, my grandparents. Clara and Eleda were
very distant cousins (Etié to Delcambre to Landry). HGF.)
