Linton

The Linton family migrated from Ohio to Tennessee, then to Oklahoma.  Elijah Hugh Linton, Jr. moved from Oklahoma to New Orleans, LA.  The genealogy of the siblings and parents of Elijah Hugh Linton, Jr. is largely the work of Gregory Cherry.

(Meigs County Rangers); in 1880, was a worker in a woolen mill in Fayetteville, Lincoln County, Tenn.; m. Rachel Mary HUPP b. 11/24/1828 in Ohio (see Hupp 1.1.1.1.1.5), d. 3/3/1905 (Ref. 1850, 1880 census, gravestone of Elijah, funeral card for Rachel).

(1) 1/1/1911 in Norman, OK Grover Cleveland FULKERSON, b. 1/4/1888 in Muhlenberg County, KY, d. 8/24/1917 in Norman.  He was an undersheriff in Cleveland County, and was shot and killed while attempting to stop a vehicle that was running bootleg liquor.  The suspect was apprehended in 1918 after murdering a deputy sheriff in another county.  Mamie m. (2) 9/10/1922 in Oklahoma County, OK, his 2nd m., Benjamin Harrison BALLARD, b. 1/15/1897 in Hamilton, AL, d. 12/4/1962 in Norman.  Ben m. (1) est. 1919 Melissa E.
