These are the very first of the rugged and dependable design of the Ford, Bacon & Davis engineering firm, built by three different carbuilders over a 12 year period, for New Orleans street railways.  Other cities bought these, too (Kansas City, Birmingham, Shreveport — also see S p. 120).  P - S pp. 121-123, scale drawing S p. 123.  At least 217 of these ran in New Orleans.
