This is a highly schematic map of the trackage on Canal
Street and in the Canal Street area around 1955. Data are from personal
observation by the author. Only streets of interest are shown.
The map is not drawn to any scale. The notation “Not used” means
that no regular revenue service was offered on that track. The tracks
on Baronne Street were available for emergency and detour service, as was
the outer pair of Canal Street tracks between Liberty and Peters inbound,
and between Peters and Rampart outbound. The upbound track on Carondelet
Street was connected, but had no trolley wire at this time, so it should
probably be considered abandoned.
