Picture 18-6.
This wire service photo of McKinley was taken about March 1920, when he
was beginning his campaign for election to the U. S. Senate. It came with
a suggested caption: “Representative William B. McKinley, of Champaign, Ill.,
will tour the southern part of the state in the coming campaign in a street car
berth. He owns the interurban street car system which covers a large part
of the state and which includes in its equipment a couple of palatial private
cars devoted to the use of its owner. Mr. McKinley is reputed to have
made about $25,000,000 out of the system.”
